Despite the many obstacles the pandemic is causing, God is still at work through ministries around the world. Here is one report:

Providing clean water opens doors for the proclamation of the gospel. To assist water ministries, SonSet Solutions has designed and built remote monitoring systems which provide data on the function of the wells, alerting water ministries of the need for maintenance or repair before the well stops completely. SonSet Solutions President David Russell reports:

Remote monitors that we shipped in March to Malawi for Design Outreach have created a new opportunity for increased community interaction. Design Outreach is now committed to retrofitting all of their pumps in Malawi with our monitors. As they visit villages, they are providing COVID-19 training, further enhancing trust and opening doors to bring the light of the gospel.

Since the beginning of March, we have also assisted ministries in Burundi, Canada, Chad, Colombia, Ecuador, Guinea, Madagascar, Malawi, Malaysia, New Zealand, Niger, Peru, United States, and Zambia.

After many years of patience and perseverance, our water monitoring work in the Central African Republic (CAR) has come full circle.

This account goes all the way back to 2007, when Dan was part of a team of SonSet Solutions missionaries who traveled to the CAR to install a shortwave radio station for Water for Good, a ministry dedicated to bringing clean and lasting water to everyone in the Central African Republic. This station enabled Water for Good to reach nearly the entire country with messages about clean water, hygiene, farming, and, most importantly, God’s Word. In 2010 Dan returned with two other SonSet engineers to install a second shortwave transmitter to increase radio coverage.

Later, Water for Good asked for help with monitoring their water wells remotely. This would lighten the burden of their maintenance teams who travel through the remote African bush. We began collaboration with well pump manufacturers in pursuit of a solution.

While we were able to test two prototypes in March 2013, civil war broke out in the CAR immediately afterward. Due to this barrier and requests from other water ministries that heard of our efforts, we spent the next six years refining our technology and helping ministries such as Water Mission and Zoe Waters in more than a dozen other countries.

Now the political climate is more stable in the CAR, and Water for Good has installed a new, improved hand pump in several villages. In July of 2019, SonSet Solutions provided SonSetLink™ water monitors for these pumps bringing us back to the ministry where the pursuit of a solution first started! We are grateful for the opportunity to provide tools that increase the effectiveness of  ministries like Water for Good.

Reaching people in faraway lands includes sharing the gospel by radio as far away as Timbuktu. In 2007, a new radio station went on the air in Timbuktu, Mali. This station spreads the gospel message in five local languages to an area along the Niger River dominated by Islam and traditional religions.

This fall the pastor who operates the station contacted SonSet Solutions for help to resolve a transmitter problem. The eleven-year-old transmitter was then sent to Elkhart for repair and refurbishment. Once serviced and returned, we trust this transmitter will provide many more years of broadcasting the gospel message in Timbuktu!

During 2018, we at SonSet Solutions have been able to work with over 165 ministries in more than 60 countries! We have sent out nearly 150 SonSetLink™ remote water monitoring systems, helped plant and maintain many radio stations and provided thousands of SonSet^® radios to get the gospel into people’s hands.
